Day 1: Alcaucín to Canillas de Aceituno – Gateway to the Sierra de Tejeda

Your journey begins in Alcaucín, a whitewashed village nestled in the foothills of the Sierra de Tejeda. The trail winds upward through pine forests, offering panoramic views of La Maroma, Málaga’s highest peak.

As we make our way toward Canillas de Aceituno, the path passes olive groves, ancient terraces, and peaceful mountain streams. This first stage captures the essence of rural Andalusia — timeless, tranquil, and filled with natural beauty.

We end the day in Canillas de Aceituno, where a warm local meal and comfortable lodging await.

Day 2: Canillas de Aceituno to Cómpeta – The Heart of Axarquía

After a hearty breakfast, we continue along the GR7, crossing ridges that reveal the deep valleys and dramatic scenery of the Axarquía region.
Our route takes us through Sedella, another stunning white village, before reaching Cómpeta, a vibrant town known for its artisanal shops, Moorish architecture, and famous Muscatel wine.

The evening is yours to relax, explore, or share stories with fellow hikers as the sun sets over the mountains.

Day 3: Cómpeta to Nerja – From Mountains to the Mediterranean

The final day leads us downhill through changing landscapes — from rugged sierras to fertile valleys filled with almond and citrus trees.
As we approach Nerja, the scent of the sea grows stronger, and soon the sparkling Mediterranean coast comes into view.

We finish our trek at the iconic Balcony of Europe, where the mountains meet the sea. It’s a breathtaking conclusion to three unforgettable days of hiking, discovery, and connection with nature.
